Huskers fall to Rebels

By Eric Welsh-Chilliwack Progress 08/05/2019, 10:00pm PDT

Through three quarters everything went according to script for the Valley Huskers in their 2019 B.C. Football Conference season opener.

But a fourth quarter collapse cost them a win as they fell 21-20 to the Westshore Rebels at Exhibition Stadium.

The Huskers jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, led 13-7 at the half and a pick-six interception by defensive back Marcel Arruda-Welch had the home team up 20-7 after three quarters.

Husker commits update

By BCFC Media 04/14/2019, 9:30am PDT

As Spring Camps draw closer and closer for our BCFC teams, we wanted to take a closer look at some new faces who have made commitments earlier in 2019 for the upcoming season. We start in Chilliwack, with a look at a few commits for the Valley Huskers, and get some insight and  thoughts from Huskers Head Coach Bob Reist

Marcel Arruda Welch (DB/RET) joins the Huskers from the University of Manitoba Bison program.
Coach Reist on Arruda Welch – “Marcel will have a huge impact on our team in all three aspects of the game. He has elite athleticism and speed. He is a proven star at the University level, he will fun to watch without question for fans across the BCFC this year.”

Ethan Diakow (REC) also joins the Huskers from the University of Manitoba Bison program.
Coach Reist on Diakow – “Ethan is a polished route runner, a possession receiver with huge play ability. He can make you miss quick, and he’ll find the open spots and holes in a defense. We expect big things out of Ethan this year.”

Tyrece Cox (DL) joins the Huskers from the University of Calgary Dinos
Coach Reist on Cox – “Tyrece will cause Offensive Lineman fits this year. He is a big, athletic pass rusher with speed. He can play multiple positions in our defense. We really believe Tyrece is in store for a big year in 2019”

David Steeves (LB) joins the Huskers from North Dakota, and the Trinity Bible College Lions program
Coach Reist on Steeves – “David is an outstanding player. He has a great sense for the game that is shown in his playmaking ability. He is big and fast, and we expect him to be an impact player on the defensive side of the ball this year.”
