BCFC 2018 Performances of the Year

Starting December 13 and every other day through New Year’s Eve we spotlight the top 10 single game performances of the past season

#7

Jaden Sheilan

Cullen Cup

Kickers are usually not talked about until they miss. On this day Langley Rams Jaden Sheilan provided good reason to break that rule of thumb and comes in at #7 in our 2018 BCFC Performances of the Year.

Heading into the Cullen Cup, Langley Rams head coach Howie Zaron felt confident that the Okanagan Sun would not be able to move the ball against his defence. You can forgive Zaron then for his less than fan friendly approach of field goals rather than taking chances in the first half as the Rams were content to “take the points” at every opportunity through 30 minutes

Second year kicker Jaden Sheilan (Calgary) proved he deserved his coach’s trust as he went a perfect and record setting 6 for 6 in first half field goals in helping stake the Rams to an insurmountable 26-0 halftime lead on the way to a 39-7 victory. The Rams had as much confidence in their kicker as their defence on championship Sunday.

Overall through the BCFC play-offs Sheilan was a perfect 9-9 in field goals and 6 of 6 on converts.

The guy deserves a nickname if his teammates haven’t already given him one.
