2018 BCFC Ken Smith Executive of the Year

The British Columbia Football Conference is proud to announce Heather Foster as its 2018 Ken Smith Executive of the Year.
In 2018 Heather, along with serving as the conference statistician (a time intensive role that she has handled for many years), took on another critical role for the BCFC. Following the retirement of the Conference Registrar, the Conference needed someone to take on the duties of working with the individual team registrars to ensure players were documented and eligible to take the field. Heather stepped forward without hesitation and provided a seamless transition in making the team registrars job as manageable as possible.

“Heather has been a valuable, dependable member of the Conference for many years. We always know that we can count on her to follow through with anything she commits to. To be honest, the whole issue of registrations this year was really a seamless transition. It could have been chaotic without Heather’s and dedication. No one who knows Heather was surprised it went as well as it did.”
While Heather Foster is being recognized for her work as statistician and registrar this year among many other duties, her time at the Conference and team level goes back decades to when she was a cheerleader with the Richmond Raiders in the 1980’s. She eventually took over administration of the Raiders cheerleaders and then saw her role at the team level grow and evolve when the Raiders merged with the Vancouver Trojans in 1992. Heather served as VP and/or General Manager of the Trojans for many years as well as filling countless other smaller roles until 2002 at which time she joined the BCFC board in 2003. Heather also has served on the Operations Committee for the Conference since 2003, taking over as League Statistician in 2006.
Frank Naso, who is currently the President of the British Columbia Provincial Football Association (BCPFA) served as President of the Trojans and worked alongside Heather, had this to say about Heather’s contribution to the Trojans and junior football.
“Heather was instrumental in the continuous operations and survival of the Vancouver Trojans. Junior Football in the Vancouver area, which at times was really an uphill climb, if it wasn’t for Heather’s tenacity and refusal to give up the program, it wouldn’t have survived as long as it did She has been a huge asset to football for many years, and a deserving winner of this award.”
The BCFC, on behalf of the member teams, Kamloops Broncos, Okanagan Sun, Langley Rams, Valley Huskers, VI Raiders and Westshore Rebels thanks Heather Foster for her invaluable dedication and service.
