Week Four 2018 – The Standouts

The Valley Huskers win over the Kamloops Broncos on August 25, was their second consecutive win this season. The last time the Huskers won back to back games was in 2008.

The Okanagan Sun win over the Langley Rams last week, was the Sun’s ninth straight win over the Rams. It is their second longest winning streak in the series, dating back to the second game between the two in 2014. The longest is eleven in a row that the Sun won from second game of 1994 through to all of 1999.

Huskers quarterback Julian Whytinck continues his assault on the Huskers record book as he added another to his laurels. On August 25, against the Broncos, Julian threw for 449 yard on 21 of 36 passes. The 449 yards set a new Huskers record for passing yards in a game and Julian became the first Husker quarterback to throw for over 400 yards in a game.

Okanagan Sun kicker Isaac Wegner was good on 5 of 6 field goal attempts against the Langley Rams on August 25. Isaac becomes the first player since 2016 to kick five field goals in a game. He joined some good company on the Sun with the five field goals. He joins Thomas Huber (2015), Steven Shott who had three 5 field goal games in 2009 (2) and 2010, Niklas Terava (2007), and Jason Cook (2004). The Sun record holder and is tied with the BCFC record is Jason Cook who booted 6 in 2002.

Westshore Rebels linebacker Raishaun Provo recovered 2 fumbles in the Rebels game against the Raiders. The two recoveries ties a Rebels record for fumble recoveries in a game.
