The VI Raiders quarterback position has taken a blow with the loss of quarterback Jamie Ybarra for the season, but the club will be more concerned about the overall health of their player rather than the on field situation.

Jamie has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his right lung after  collapsing in practice last week. While he is confident of a full recovery, his final season of junior football is obviously of little importance now.

Ybarra on the situation;

"I just thought it was conditioning, just a getting in shape thing, but I just couldn't catch my breath. Coach Hawk got me to the hospital and I got the news that it is a blood clot.

"This sucks, because yeah I was looking forward to the season, but I have to deal with this and football is out of the question right now."

Ybarra, who was in a battle with sophomore Jake Laberge for the starting job after returning to the club after last quarterbacking them as a rookie in 2013 is expected to make a full recovery. He plans on remaining in Nanaimo with the team for the season and will not be returning to his home in Winnipeg for the time being.

"This team has been nothing but good to me. I told them I'm here to help in the film room with Jake or whatever they need."
