BC Lions Players of the Week for week

Offensive player of the week

Tommy Robertson / QB / Langley Rams

16/27 passing for 242 yards with 3 TDS & 1 INT

1 rushing for 8 yards

Tommy Robertson was a late addition to the Rams roster, suiting up for his club the first time just over a week ago in leading Langley to a critical win over the VI Raiders. The passing game was struggling for the team based out of Macleod Athletic Park and the Rams were in desperate search of an answer at the position.

Robertson is now 2 for 2 with an impressive performance in Kamloops over a Broncos defense that can be stingy at times, and definitely a challenge through the air.

The Rams are looking like a vastly different, and much better club than they were just two weeks ago

Defensive player of the week

Mason Kelley / DL / VI Raiders

7 tackles / 1 assist / 2 sacks

The VI Raiders had a rivalry game at Caledonia Park this weekend when they took on the Westshore Rebels and its potent rushing attack.

The game ended in a 25-25 tie and it’s difficult to imagine a better outcome for the Raiders defensively in holding the Rebels to 212 yards along the ground on 38 carries. That’s just 5.6 yards a carry, well below the Rebels season average.

It all starts on the defensive line when it comes to disrupting an imposing Westshore offensive line. If Mason Kelley wasn’t stuffing the run, he was pressuring Rebels quarterback Ashton MacKinnon.

Hard to get a better game out of a player in the trenches than Kelley offered up Saturday

Special Teams player of the week

Jordan Lund / KR / Langley Rams

Returned missed FG 111 yards for TD

With just under 7 minutes to play and trailing 20-10 the Kamloops Broncos lined up for a field goal attempt that would have cut the Langley Rams lead to 7.

The kick went wide and Rams returner Jordan Lund ended the Broncos comeback hopes altogether when he took the ball back 111 yards to extend the Rams lead to 27-10.

That’s clutch play on Lund’s part.
