The Okanagan Sun winning the organization’s 3rd national championship was a good bet to be the #1 story of the 2022 season.

From the Sun’s perspective the win included two firsts, it was the Okanagan’s first ever win against a Saskatchewan opponent on prairie soil. The 14-0 season is also the first time a CJFL team has gone 14-0 on route to the Canadian Bowl. (the BCFC is the only conference where this is possible as the conference plays 10 games).

From a BCFC perspective the Sun securing the conference’s 2nd straight title after the Langley Rams turned the trick last season was also important. While BCFC franchises compete against each other every season, the conference also competes as a whole in the pursuit of players from across the country.

With only 42 high school teams in the province and the no draft process, recruiting beyond BC borders is vital to the on field success of our teams.

While the Canadian Bowl sits in the Okanagan Sun trophy case, BCFC back to back is good news for all our teams.
