BCFC alumni Paul McCallum and Andrew Harris were a generation of players apart in the conference. Paul was Mr. Automatic when he kicked for the Surrey Rams from 1991 through 1993, he was pretty physical as kickers go as well. While today’s juniors may not know that McCallum has BCFC roots they know full well of Andrew Harris’ dominance in the league for 5 seasons (2005-2009) that included 3 Canadian Bowls.

Although McCallum and Harris never crossed paths in junior due to their age difference, their stories would intertwine afterward as they were teammates on the 2011 Grey Cup champion BC Lions.

Both athletes brought attention to the BCFC during their pro careers as their direct paths to the CFL would often be mentioned on CFL broadcasts and media coverage.

The fact that both would become CFL icons at their positions and both make headlines the same year is what makes them our #2 story of the year.

Paul McCallum, the #2 all time leading scorer in the CFL was this year named to the BC Lions Ring of Honour and named to the CFL Hall of Fame. Paul retired from the league in 2016 following a prolific 23 year career and two Grey Cups

Andrew Harris became the first Canadian born running back to eclipse 10,000 career yards this season, capping off a stellar 2022 that saw him win his 4th Grey Cup. It’s only a matter of time before Harris joins McCallum in the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame.

Paul McCallum & Andrew Harris showed what that extra work and determination, coupled with skill can accomplish. Congratulations gentlemen! And thank you for putting more eyes on the BCFC and showing another era of players how to do it.
