Every season, some individual performances stand out in any sports league, the BCFC is no different. Records are sometimes set and career benchmarks are established, these are the types of achievements that will usually get talked about.

Kamloops Broncos receiver Colton Meikle had 43 receptions for 853 yards and 7 touchdowns (the receptions and yardage numbers both led the conference), In Meikle’s case though, it’s not so much about the impressive all star numbers he put up.

For this 6’4, 205 pound 2nd year conference standout the story is that he shouldn’t even be in the league yet because he is still in high school. That’s right, Colton Meikle still attends Westsyde High School and is playing under a “CJFL Commissioners Exemption”. Westsyde, once a force in the BC high school football scene no longer has a football program, forcing Meikle to make the early jump to the junior football ranks. After a solid 2021 rookie campaign that saw him make 12 catches for 168 yards, Meikle blossomed into a star and one of the very best in the CJFL this season.

Look for a now “grizzled veteran” 19 year old Colton Meikle atop the BCFC leaderboard next year.
