Dom Britton

Quarterback-Okanagan Sun

St. Marys (Calgary) Dom Britton’s agility and arm kept the rebels defence on its heels in the Cullen Cup. After shaking off a slow start in the opening quarter Britton found his rhythm, going 16 of 25 for 230 yards with 3 TDS and no interceptions. He added another 27 rushing yards on 3 carries including a 17 yards touchdown.

Offences start and stop with the quarterback so the Sun head to Windsor on solid footing with Britton behind centre.

Romareo Reid

Defensive Line-Okanagan Sun

The Okanagan Sun defence arguably turned in its best performance of the season in limiting the Westshore rebels to 96 yards net offence in Saturday’s Cullen Cup.

Among a series of stellar individual performances, Sun defensive lineman Romareo Reid (Notre Dame-Calgary) stood out as he harrassed Rebels QB TE Jessie all afternoon. He finished with 1 tackle, 2 sacks and a highlight forced fumble when he ran down the Rebels passer who was rolling out looking for a receiver downfield.

Mike O’Shea

Returner-Okanagan Sun

O’Shea (St. Pauls High School-Winnipeg) was more than a bit surprised he was named special teams player of the game in the Cullen Cup. Call him shocked as he was laughing post game “I had no yards”. While that was almost true (he actually had 3 punt returns for 29 yards), he did forget a pair of long returns that were called back on penalties, including one for a touchdown.

His lowest out-put of the season aside, O’Shea will be heavy on the St. Claire Saints scouting report when they look at his returns this season in addition to his receiving numbers.
