OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

Dom Britton

Quarterback-Okanagan Sun

 

Okanagan Sun quarterback Dom Britton (St. Mary’s High School-Calgary) threw for just 207 yards in his clubs 58-1 win over the visiting VI Raiders but he was pin-point in his accuracy with 15 completions and 3 touchdowns on just 20 attempts.

 

He also kept the Raiders defence on it’s heels with his feet, carrying the ball 4 times for 48 yards and another touchdown.

 

This is Britton’s second straight BC Lions Offensive Player of the week nod and third on the season.

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

Keon Raymond

Defensive Back-

Prince George Kodiaks

 

One of the major player signings for the expansion Prince George Kodiaks was defensive back Keon Raymond (Centennial High School-Calgary) who made the move to the city with his dad, Kodiaks head coach Keon Raymond senior

 

Junior had a huge night in the secondary as the Kodiaks won the first game in franchise history, 28-20 over a tough Valley Huskers team. He made plays all over the field with 3 tackles, 2 pass knockdowns, an interception that he returned 70 yards for a touchdown. He even managed a quarterback sack.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

Mike O’Shea

Returner-Okanagan Sun

 

Mike O’Shea (St. Pauls-Winnipeg) is the special teams player of the week for the second consecutive week after taking a punt to the end zone for (for the second straight week), this time it was an 82 yard score. Overall the son of Blue Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea had 151 yards on 5 returns and leads the conference with 382 yards and an 18.3 yard average on the season.

 

O’Shea had a stellar night receiving as well with 6 catches for 84 yards and another TD.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

 

Aidan Wiberg

Running back-Okanagan Sun

Hometown running back Aidan Wiberg (Mount Boucherie-West Kelowna) grad got his chance to show his stuff in a loaded Okanagan Sun Saturday night when starter Jevon Garwood was injured in the first quarter.

 

Wiberg showed he has a bright future at the Apple Bowl, racking up 120 yards and a touchdown on just 7 carries as the Sun rolled past the VI Raiders 58-1 to move to 4-0 on the season
