OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dom Britton

Quarterback-Okanagan Sun

St. Mary’s High School (Calgary) grad Dom Britton has his second BCFC BC Lions Offensive Player of the Week after a 5 touchdown performance for the Sun in a dominating win over the Westshore Rebels.

Britton completed 12 of 22 passes for 292 yards 5TDS, 1 INT and 1 rushing attempt of his own for 18 yards. He spread the touchdowns among 4 different receivers on the night.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Keagan Curtis

Defensive Back-Kamloops Broncos

In a night of several solid defensive performances, Kamloops Broncos defensive back Keegan Curtis (Winston Knoll Collegiate-Regina) stood out with 3 tackles and a pair of interceptions in the Broncos massive road win in Nanaimo against the VI Raiders this past weekend.

The Broncos defence has proven to be one of the stingiest in the BCFC this season and the prairie bred Curtis is one of the leaders for the Broncos.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mike O’Shea

Returner-Okanagan Sun

Mike O’Shea (St. Paul’s High School-Winnipeg) is a key figure when it comes to moving the ball for the Okanagan Sun, both receiving and special teams.

Timing was everything this past Saturday night when his club clashed with the Westshore Rebels in a battle of undefeated teams. With the Sun down 2-0 early in the 1st quarter and momentum on the side of the visiting Rebels, O’Shea flipped the switch with a 75 yard punt return to give his team a lead it would not relinquish.

He would finish with 136 special team yards on the night, mainly on the strength of 5 punt returns for 132 yards. He added another 58 yards a touchdown receiving.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jerome Erickson

Receiver-Prince George Kodiaks

The BCFC has long had players from Prince George on its rosters, as the community is home to some of the top high school programs in the province. When the Kodiaks franchise was born this season it meant that local players would no longer have to travel to play junior football.

College Heights Secondary grad Jerome Erickson is one of the players benefitting from football in the north and is having one of the top rookie seasons in the BCFC.

Erickson had a big night in his club’s game in Chilliwack against the Huskers Saturday night with 9 receptions for 99 yards & a touchdown.

Erickson sits third in the conference with 14 receptions on the season after this past weekend.
