OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Reece Wyke

Valley Huskers-Running Back

Reece Wyke (River East Collegiate-Winnipeg) is the heartbeat of the Valley Huskers running game and came to play Saturday night in the Fraser Valley battle between the Huskers and Langley Rams at Exhibition Stadium in Chilliwack.

Wyke carried the ball 19 times for 117 yards and a TD in a bruising game against a strong Langley Rams front 7. The hometown Huskers coming out on top 14-7 simply would not have happened if not for the workmanlike effort of Reece Wyke.

Expert to see Wyke’s name at or near the top of the BCFC rushing derby at season’s end this fall.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tarick Polius

Defensive Line-Westshore Rebels

Tarick Polius (West Toronto Prep School) is an absolute monster on the Westshore Rebels defensive line at 6’7 and 300 pounds. That’s big for the CFL, imagine what opposing lineman in the CJFL think when they look up.

He provided little opportunity for the Raiders running backs Saturday night and no doubt had QB Ben Chomolok’s attention as he tallied 4 tackles, 2 assists and 1.5 sacks.

Sun quarterback Dom Britton will no doubt be looking for the location of #97 when the undefeated Westshore Rebels & Okanagan Sun battle Saturday night on Telus channel

1999.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Gerren Hardisty

Returner-Westshore Rebels

Gerren Hardisty (Belmont Secondary) got his second kick return touchdown in two days and it came at a key time in the Rebels 45-10 victory over the island rival VI Raiders Saturday night.

The Raiders had kicked a field goal to narrow the gap to 10-3 with about 10 minutes to play in the second quarter and the speedster took the ensuing kick-off 90 yards for a TD. The Rebels never looked back…

Hardisty overall had 2 returns for 122 yards and also had a strong night in the Rebels backfield with 86 yards on 15 carries.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kaleb Sense

Receiver-Kamloops Broncos

Kaleb Sense sat out football last season but signed with the Kamloops Broncos this season after graduating from Sheldon Williams High School (Regina) in 2021.

The Kamloops Broncos got their first win of the season this past Saturday night (35-20 road win in Kamloops) and Sense contributed in a big way with 148 all purpose yards by way of 4 receptions for 102 yards & 1 TD, 4 punt returns for 20 yards and 1 kick-off return for 26 yards.

Kaleb Sense will no doubt play a pivotal role in the Broncos push for the play-offs this season
