Week 10 – BCFC Players of the Week
Offense –Running back, Trey Campbell-Westshore Rebels
23 carries for 145 yards and 2TDS
A battle for first place in the BCFC between the Rebels and Okanagan Sun, teams that last met way back in week one when the Sun prevailed by a 19-15 score. In that game, Rebels running back Trey Campbell left the game early due to injury and he was anxious to show that score may have been different had he been able to do his work for his teammates that day.
This was a match-up of the #1 rushing offense of the Rebels versus the #1 rush defense in the Sun. Campbell and company won the battle. This is Campbell’s 2nd offensive player of the week this season
Defense – Defensive Back, Jeremie Cheng-VI Raiders
4 tackles, 2 assists, 2 interceptions
Jeremie Cheng has been a leader of arguably the top secondary in the BCFC this season and had another strong afternoon as his team pounded the visiting Langley Rams Saturday afternoon.
Cheng will finish in the top 5 in the conference interception derby. This is Jeremie’s second defensive player of the week this season.
Special Teams-Returner, Conor Richard-Okanagan Sun
6 kick returns for 182 yards
Already a name that will be in the mix for defensive player of the year in the BCFC, Richard was called upon to return kicks as the Sun were at times desperate to gain momentum against a Rebels club that was shutting down the Sun offensively.
Richard had a strong afternoon, especially in the second half with a 53 yarder that he was inches from breaking for a touchdown. Richard’s kick returns may have been the only trouble the Sun gave the Rebels on this night.
