Players of the Week

Sept 12, 2017

Week 6 – BCFC Players of the Week

Offense – Receiver, Shamar Donelson-Okanagan Sun

5 receptions, 178 yards, 4 TDS

Shamar Donelson saw his first full game action of the 2017 after recovering from injury as the Sun took on the VI Raiders at home Sunday afternoon. He had an “okay” afternoon as he scored all 4 of the Sun touchdowns as the Sun and Raiders battled to a thrilling 31-31 tie.

Games like this are what an athlete will be talking about for the rest of his life.

Defense – Defensive Line, Quinton Bowles-VI Raiders

4 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks

Quinton Bowles takes home his second defensive POW in 3 weeks as he had a monster game leading a defensive line that muddied the trenches against the Sun all afternoon. Bowles spent much of the afternoon in the Sun backfield and played a pivotal role as the Raiders held the Sun running game to under 100 yards for the first time since game 1 of the season.

Bowles is running away with the sack lead in the conference with 9.5 on the season

Special Teams-Placekicker, James Parker, VI Raiders

3 of 3 field goals, longest 39 yards

2 of 2 converts

52.4 yard average on 7 kick offs

BCFC kickers have made 3 field goals in a game before, and BCFC kickers have been perfect on the day before. But Raiders’ James Parker HAD to be perfect in his team’s game that had momentum swings all afternoon. It’s games like this, with that added pressure where you will usually see a junior kicker miss that one field goal. Parker never missed, including when he booted a key 39-yard field goal in the 3rd quarter to bring a key bit of momentum back to the Raiders side.

He seldom has missed this 2017 season as he is a perfect 17/17 on converts and a stellar 12/13 in field goals. The BCFC record for field goal percentage in a season is 85.7%. Parker is well on pace to eclipse that as he currently sits at 92.3%
