Westshore Rebels Appoint New President Rob Lervold

Victoria, BC, Canada – June 9, 2017

Due to health issues Doug Kobayashi has resigned from his role as President of the Westshore Rebels football club. Prior to Doug’s resignation he made sure the Rebels will be in good hands by recruiting the new President Rob Lervold.

“I have to take care of my health first, so unfortunately I had to make a difficult decision to step down, says Kobayashi. “I feel more comfortable with my decision now that I know the Rebels have a phenomenal new President to continue what I have started”.

Over the past year and half Doug has worked hard at turning around the operations of the Westshore Rebels by getting key people into Executive positions and ensuring the team was no longer in the red.

“Doug was instrumental in turning this team around but will continue to sit on our Board of Directors, we respect his decision and wish him well” says, Jonathan Poppitt, Rebels General Manager.

Rob Lervold is no stranger to football he played Quarterback in 1987 & 1988 for the Rebels (formerly Payless). After completing his Junior Football career, he made Victoria his home. He completed a B.A. in Economics from the University of Victoria and is currently a Manager at Coast Capital Savings Credit Union.

“I am looking forward to building on the success of last year’s Rebels program and working with the superb support staff and volunteers. The Rebels have a strong tradition in the Victoria area providing players an opportunity to compete at a high level of football. I look forward to seeing the great fans at the field, as well as meeting with, and thanking our sponsors. Developing young men for CIS, CFL, and most importantly to be contributing members of our local community will be at the forefront of our program” states Lervold.
