Hull named Sun MVP

The Okanagan Sun held its annual awards banquet Monday night. Their team awards were as follows;

After a thrilling CJFL Canadian Bowl BC Conference semi-final overtime victory on Sunday the Okanagan Sun celebrated their individual accomplishments on Monday night at the year-end team awards banquet at the Coast Capri Hotel. 

The following are the Sun award winners:

Scoring Leader – Kealey Heintz (Kicker)
Community Award – Kian Ishani (Receiver)
Most Inspirational Player in memory of JT Fernandez – Jamie Turek (Defensive Back)
Most Improved Player – Tye Kitzman (Defensive Back)
Okanagan High School Player of the Year – Michele Vecchio (Offensive Lineman, RSS Grad)
Most Popular Player (voted by the players) – Michele Vecchio (Offensive Lineman) & Kasey Russell (Running Back)
Most Sportsmanlike Player – Foster Martens (Quarterback)
Special Teams Player – Eli Haynes (Linebacker)
Top Defensive Back – Jamie Turek & Beck Fullerton
Top Linebacker – Layne Hull – (second consecutive year)
Top Offensive Back – Kasey Russell (Running Back)
Top Receiver – Lliam Wishart
Top Defensive Lineman – Jonas Gering (second consecutive year)
Top Offensive Lineman – Quinn Horton
Rookie of the Year – Liam Hamlyn (Offensive Lineman)
Most Valuable Player – Layne Hull (Linebacker)

The Sun will now begin preparation for the Westshore Rebels in the CJFL Canadian Bowl BC Conference Cullen Cup Championship game on Saturday October 29 at the Westhills Stadium in Victoria.  If the Sun win they will host the 2016 Canadian Bowl National Championship Game on November 12, 2016.
