British Columbia Football Conference
BC Lions Players of the Week for week 10
Offensive Player of the Week
Dustin Rodriguez / REC / VI Raiders
11 receptions, 191 yards, 1 touchdown
The VI Raiders offense had a strong outing Saturday in the clubs 37-17 win over the Valley Huskers.
Their veteran receiver had his best game of the season in what has been a stellar 2016 for one of the team’s all around leaders who graduates from the program this season
He finished atop the conference receiver leader board in receptions (51), and yards (941)
Defensive Player of the Week
Layne Hull / LB / Okanagan Sun
3 tackles / 1 assist / 1 QB sack / 1 force fumble
The Okanagan Sun had one of its best games on both sides of the ball in a critical 44-24 win over the Langley Rams Sunday afternoon to clinch second place in the BCFC.
Hull was his usual physical self in leading the Sun defense that smothered the Langley Rams offense until some Ram points in the 4th quarter made the score look a bit closer than the game was.
Hull was named the top defensive player in last season’s Canadian Bowl. He showed again Sunday what his team can expect when a game is on the line.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Jordan Angove / Returner / Kamloops Broncos
5 punt returns for 53 yards
8 kick returns for 114 yards
Angove has been vital to the growth of a rebuilding Kamloops Broncos club both in the secondary and on special teams for the club in 2016.
He had another strong game in both areas (also chipping in 6 total tackles and 2 pass deflections) in the Broncos final game of 2016.
Angove finished unofficially with 992 kick return yards which would establish a new single season BCFC record.
