We are now just past the half way mark of the BCFC season so we thought we would give our 6 head coaches some homework.
We asked them to give us the names of 10 players from other clubs who have stood out in their eyes. We didn’t ask them to be position specific, nor did we ask for an even number of 5 offensive and 5 defensive players. Just 10 players who jumped out at them either from live action or on film they have scouted for an upcoming game. These are players that due to raw talent or other intangibles have made an opposing coach notice them, and obviously make them wish they were on their own roster.
The Broncos and Huskers have yet to play each other but they have observed enough film that they will have an good idea of what players from the either team have done.
A player could get up to 5 votes if every opposing coach mentioned them, the concept being we would have a list of the top 10 players in the conference so far this season.
No player got the maximum 5 votes. 5 players were mentioned 4 times, while another 4 players got the nod from 3 coaches. A further 7 players got mentioned 2 times and we cut the list off at 9 of the very best for this piece.
We list the players below alphabetically without specifying if they received 3 or 4 nominations.
No offensive linemen felt the love, but one did come up just short with two mentions.
Interesting that not a single quarterback made the grade. Just like the offensive lineman one did come up a vote short.
Every team had at least one player make the top 9
Lets take a look who stood out most to our coaches...
A 3rd year Bronco out of Prince George, he sits second in the conference in defensive points and just last week took home a player of the week award for his efforts. He also leads the conference with 6 interceptions.

This rookie running back from Ontario may be feel the shadow of his running mate but most in the conference will tell you he is just as dangerous. He is third in the conference in rushing yards with 494 but his 12.4 average is tops.

The only kicker who even got a mention, his punting average is tops and the Rams can count on him to make a 50-yard field goal. This pick up from SFU could be a difference maker come play-off time

This big, physical player is a force on a talented Sun defence . A 5th year vet out of Kelowna, he has 2.5 sacks on the season and creates a double team situation most games to make not only himself, but the entire Sun 12 dangerous.

Johnson is in his 2nd season out of Tweedsmuir High School. He sits third in the conference with 459 yards and second with 4 touchdowns on the season. BCFC defenses are in for problems for the next few seasons.

If there was one name everyone knew would be on this list it was #22 of the Rebels. This pick up from the Manitoba Bisons is on his way to obliterating the conference rushing record, presently sitting with 1066 yards.

Rodriguez is THE go to threat for his club. He leads the conference in receiving yards (558) and you go all the way down to #17 on the yardage list to see another Raider. He catches everything and his speed will pull him away from the defender once he has the ball.

Perhaps surprisingly Shea is the lone linebacker on the list. A veteran leader of the Raiders defense sits 4th in total tackles in the conference. He is a physical presence who will come across the field to make a tackle.
This big target is second in BCFC receiving yards (535) and leads in receptions and touchdowns with 32 and 5 respectively. One of the more versatile players in the conference, he is seeing action on the Huskers defensive line as well
