BC Lions BCFC Players of the Week
Offensive player of the week
Jamel Lyles RB Westshore Rebels
It’s only week 4 of the season but Westshore Rebels back Jamel Lyles is running away with the conference rushing title. He had another stellar evening in the Rebels 45-32 win in Kamloops against the Broncos Saturday night. He tallied 238 yards and 3 TDS on 26 carries as his club moved to 3-1 on the season. His 697 yards through 4 games is almost 300 ahead of the closest competitor. This is Lyles second offensive POW to go along with one special team nod as well
Defensive player of the week
Layne Hull LB Okanagan Sun
Okanagan Sun linebacker Layne Hull led the top defence in the BCFC to it’s fourth straight victory, this week 37-19 over the visiting VI Raiders. While Hull’s numbers aren’t staggering in any one area, 1 tackle/1 assisted tackle/1 quarterback sack/1 knockdown/1 interception, they are indicative of his ability to be all over the field for his club.
Special Teams player of the week
Kealey Heintz P/K Okanagan Sun
The Okanagan Sun found themselves in a tight defensive battle for much of the game against the Raiders before they eventually pulled away with a 37-19 victory. Pretty much every time Heintz was called on by the Sun it was in a pressure situation and he did not let his team down. His 7 punts were good for a 36 yard average, 8 kickoffs equalled 49.9 average and he was perfect on converts (4 of 4) and field goals, 3 of 3. (35,25,26 yards)
